Ronald Mcdonald
Just checking up on everyone to see if anyone wanted to leave any input on how they feel about the current game state. I saw a few comments on discord about how the market has been. Mixed comments. I do want to state how my feelings were effected during the whole grinding change. First I want to explain myself that I fought extremely hard to have mods/ community members to look closely at grinding. I invested heavily into this game, and my play style revolved around buying 1/1 weapons and trying to buy 0/0 weapons. Paying millions of meseta in the early game just to acquire such weapons. Just for them to be destroyed by the update. I also spent countless hours pouring every single resource into accumulating S+10 grinders. Just for their value to to diminish with a swift motion. Leading up to the grinding change I was playing regularly. Taking note of a particular mod (Ethateral) who would remove some of my trade posts on discord just because he disagreed with my opinion on grinding. It truly felt like the odds were stacked up against me. One thing that really busted my bubble along with the people I played with was that an honest players' opinions were overlooked. I never cheated in my time of playing Clementine. However, the opinions of people who played with client hackers were put into more consideration than our own. It was a bad deal. So you can understand why a guy like me would quit the game. I do want to note that I will be back on Clementine. I will bring some people back onto the server as well. This will be towards the "end game." When all the weapons are available and all the cheap weapons are obsolete, I will come back. There will probably be a leveling event. I will easily acquire some of the rarest weapons during that time of month. Then I would take some of my S+10s being held by a friend and easily 10/10 the end game weapons. Boom, game complete. In the mean time, I will being working towards my PhD in economics and spending my time more productively than with a game that an elementary schooler can pick up and easily play. Grinding is the sole mechanic that makes the game difficult. Clem Flex channel- just so you can show off fruitless accomplishments? okay Maybe in the future, or after a wipe, there could be a server for people who have a different preference on grinding? Maybe you could swap servers but have zero influence on the market/ trades depending on your home server? Maybe I am just a hollow shell of a player talking to myself. Thoughts? How is the player count? How is the gameplay? Do you die often? Edited July 21, 2021 by Ronald Mcdonald
Aelphasy
To be an economist is not only about understand models and systems : it's also to foresee and anticipate. It was easy to see that this grinding system would change, because there were already topics since 2017 in that direction. Think about it for your PhD, because it's a shame that you couldn't take this simple variable into account. Also, nothing in PSU is difficult. And the difficulty of a game is not based on having a frustrating RNG system. Think about it too, just in case you decide to have another PhD in gamedesign. I don't mean to sound rude, but you make up problems that aren't fundamentally. Edited July 21, 2021 by Aelphasy
Ronald Mcdonald
It was easy to see that the grinding system was going to change. I would not see that it would change negatively in my favor though. As others agreed with me as well. I simply wrote this post because I saw someone saying he would quit because of the market being so horrible in the discord. Some people even commenting that the player base was even worse than pre grinding update. I really just wanted to hear more on this issue to be honest with you. I am not getting on anytime soon to play a child game anymore. You are right actually. PSU Clementine has absolutely nothing difficult in it. Which is why I am even questioning coming back. Play the same rooms constantly over and over and never die. Guaranteed item drops and now guaranteed weapon grinds. You are definitely right on the game having absolutely no challenge whatsoever. Might as well play animal crossing at this point. I would call it Elementary School Universe Clementine. Maybe one day the game will advance and so would your spare time along with it. Oh, another thing. While studying economics, professors often tell students that it is absolutely impossible to foresee, or predict the outlook of any economy. Otherwise everyone would be a billionaire from precisely predicting stock market prices. I also could not find any information on a "PhD in gamedesign" anywhere. @Aelphasy
Ronald Mcdonald
And as I noted in the original post. Odds being stacked against me as always. I would like to hear about your feelings towards the game. How do you feel about the games current state @Aelphasy. This isn't just about just my feelings. The damage has already been done. From what you posted it seems all you had to say was to ridicule me for going to school and that the game is not difficult. Which sounds more like you have feelings towards the game that do align with mine quite a bit. Go ahead, let it out.
Zeta
10 hours ago, Ronald Mcdonald said: Thoughts? How is the player count? How is the gameplay? Do you die often? My experience with the gameplay and on dying: If you play solo, the game can be challenging (to different degrees depending on your class and the mission). When I was soloing Sacred Stream S2 as Masterforce I was dying like 1-3 times per run, actually ended up switching to Wartecher so I wouldn't die so much (which made things a little too safe). In contrast, my experience of playing in parties larger than 2 man is generally just steamrolling things, sometimes to the point of 'as a striking class I barely get to enemies before they die'. Even if someone does faceplant it doesn't even matter because another player can just moon or giresta them, no need for scape dolls. Runs also go way faster than solo, though if that's good or bad is up to you. As a result I generally hang out on Satsuma and play solo. I'd prefer if playing in a party presented a reasonable level of challenge as well (as long as this doesn't come at the cost of missions being impossible/frustrating to solo - I think both should be options). I know there is some kind of enemy scaling with additional players, but it's minor. I've only ever noticed it while power leveling a friend through basic types on Protectors Kappa S back in the day. Aelphasy
Quote I simply wrote this post because I saw someone saying he would quit because of the market being so horrible in the discord. Just like some quit PSU og because of this or that... If we took the discord seriously, the game should be dead since at least 3 years. Quote I saw someone saying he would quit because of the market being so horrible in the discord it's been 6 months since this person told that he quit soon, so its more a running gag. Trigunman
If you quit over something this trivial with the game IMHO, then what are you truly playing this game for? Sure, PSU AOTI is far from perfect, but neither was PSOBB... This was even after the server I was on the past 10 years, the owner and staff had changed the game considerably beyond it's original content and difficulty. Meh, sure grinding is difficult here, but you ain't seen nothing till you've tried to augment crap with the "god" affixes in PSO2, haha. Radori
You're a bit of a weirdo about flexing your post secondary education as if that has any merit lol but I do understand your criticisms with the grinding change. The reality is that for a grinding system like PSU's period, we had to pick our poison with either breaking stuff forever or making so that players could get the gear they farm for. Tokkie
Psu clementine won't please everyone, if you have already quit then don't come back. You're not missing much and the game is simply not for you. I play clementine for nostalgia and connect with old friends, Psu has never been hard, and as you said this game is kiddish like. Well, most of us were 13-17 playing this game back in the day. Sega did not create this game to satisfy adults, I'd say. If you come back, Cheers ~ If not, you're not hurting or benefitting anyone. Seority
When it comes to grinding weapons, I'm on the side of what it is now. To work for the few spare hours I have a day, to finally find a good rare, just for RNG to break it into oblivion is not preferred. However, I understand that this joy comes at the expense of people like you whom enjoy the risk of breaking items for a chance to make them better. I hope the feelings are mutal if this situation was reversed. As for logically looking at this, yes 1/1's or 0/0's are rare in and of themselves, but the fact is that they are the exact same stat wise to a 1/10 or 0/10. Most people want grinding for higher stats, hense why the mecahnic exsists at all, not to achieve oddities. I don't want to yuck your yum, but going against what the mecahnic was designed for is not logical. Sorry it's not what you desire. As for the issues you have with staff, it's best to leave that to DMs, just a word of advice. However, I do agree with you that if there is no risk to an action, it's not an accomplishment. Did you really make this thread to discuss the grinding issue or is there another reason for this thread? Much appreciation for your attempts to make the grinding system better on Clem, and I'm sorry to see that you may be leaving because of it. Focusing on your future is more valuable than on an old game, I agree. Much luck on your journey going forward.

Great community. Hi, Im not much on the forums, but saw this as I was checking in on the post Marm had just made about what's in store for the future. Player count lately has been a little over 100 ppl on peak hours and hovers around 50-60 during early hours or really late into the night from what I've noticed. Gameplay feels great, there isn't a class I can think of that is in a bad place. Balance feels nice and I'm stuck figuring out what exactly I'm going to play once I hit MF 100. There are lots of options and I genuinely enjoy playing every class that I've messed around with. I think people don't reply to your post because of the way you come off about things. I have no issues with you, but just rereading your post you have this outlook that you will easily be able to do whatever you want whenever you come back simply because you have plenty of s+10s. Grinding in PSU will never be a "perfect" system in my opinion no matter what the team decides to do. There will always be someone that is upset with how it is or will be. It's just a flawed system in my opinion. But it is what it is, PSU is my favorite game and I will continue to play it no matter what direction this game goes. I hope I answered your questions and I hope you have a good day.
