title says it i guess. sorry if this thread is in the wrong area.  i just downloaded and installed the game and the lag is crazy. its only when hitting something tho. There a delay between when my bullet hits the enemy and when the damage pops up. Really annoying and makes it almost unplayable.  I have a good laptop. good internet. ive tried running on high settings. tried it on low settings. is the server just laggy like this? am i missing something?

First and foremost, WIFI can cause all sorts of lag / connectivity issues. First try connecting on a wired (ethernet) connection directly to your router/gateway. If after connecting directly wired and you're still getting delays, there may be not much you can do.

Some occasional lag spikes happen, but the hit delay in attached videos  I think is as good as it gets.  Is your delay similar or worse?

You could try adjusting the MTU/TCP settings of your router/network adapter after consulting with your ISP and telling them your issue. I would do that AFTER seeing if a wired connection first reduces your lag though.

Server is in New York? Boo. I get REALLY bad lag. Phantom hits for days. Enemies will whiz right by me then half a second later I go flying. It's really bad and always has been. :< RIP long distance...

Maybe some tracing problem, idk if it can help, but maybe you should try some VPN or something to make another trace and look if it better or not. Or contact your isp and check traces together.

I'm not sure if it's gonna be that simple. I've played in in multiple households (I just moved, as well as playing at a friends place) and it's been the same everywhere. :( Two different PCs too.
