@Guru Absolem You mean the nsfw stuff? I heard in rumor level that they shut it down, because they started to work on pso2. Which is tedious because it's were japanese for a long while, if i'm right. (havent played the original psu and any pso2 version) But i guess there must be something other else too.

After a few minute of searching, i think it could be a reason, again, i could be wrong.

Wikipedia about "psu shut down (JP server)"

"The Japanese PC servers were closed as of 00:00 JST on September 28, 2012"

and "first release"

"JP: July 4, 2012
NA: May 27, 2020
WW: August 5, 2020"

I can only speak for the xbox community but the xbox live community in general was pretty... Questionable at best

@Guru Absolem Like i said: "i could be wrong" I only found it "questionable", due to the fact that they executed the whole thing, while pso2 weren't world wide available. If i would had to launch the game, i would made it wait till it has a proper alpha at hand in both japanese and english. It could sort of prevent some bad feels, and/or the pso2's arrival could just made it easier to hopp on the next game instand. Also while the devs had worked on pso2, they could profit from psu's exist.

I can be wrong, and i hope i weren't said anything that were sound so silly ❤️

Can't speak for exactly why it shutdown but I'm sure it wasn't due to the community, no matter how bad it got. I believe you were right, PSO2 was a likely cause since it was only a few months away and had been announced a year prior, but who knows. This is SEGA we're talking about, after all

PSO2 was actually translated pretty early on, there were indications very early of English support in the client and the game was shown off in English at a PAX event iirc. There's plenty of theories as the why it took so long to come west, SEGA definitely put in support for it, my guess would be lack of a publisher they were confident in, or just confidence in the west in general.

Feel like that's a discussion for another thread though.

It’s the end of August Are you going to release it?

Oh I don’t know if you heard this word but “Can you stop rushing the clementine team”  such a impatient  person. If it get delay then it got delay. Shit happen during development and you have understand that.

I think a more tactful question would be: "Can we have an update?"

I'm excited as anyone to play, but let's not get pushy lol

Agreed.

I'm just a excited as the next guy but patience is key, however I do not think its out of line to ask for a update, after all the early and latest timeline set for the release has come on gone. I think we all know that things can happen to cause it to be delayed and if the timeline has to be pushed back than I'm all for it if it means getting a more polished version of the game but please at least give us a quick post letting is know its been pushed back.

@Killroy I think i understand you more than ever :*D Because i think i've asked you a few days before the game went out, that how long it will take. And you said like.... No estimated time avalable. or some like it :3 Now i know why. :*D

@Eric007 ... 2020 had a rough start, please don't make it worse by being inpatient. I know you love the game, and well as you're excited as well :3 But please, let them have time to make it good!

we were lucky that we had this test version for a teaser, so we know that they work on it. But each update required a wipe. 😞
Now imagine, if you make a progress, having fun, for like.... say... two weeks? (idk how long we need to wait, but we wait, so don't quote the time) You have a blast. and then, boom, either an unreverseable glitch or the update kills your progress.

Personally i don't know how to program or anything in that metter. But it's need time! And they (probably) need to test Every script, every weapon, every enemy, every... everything. And also, the game is resurrected from scratch. And so if it takes time, then it's takes time....

And if you (and anyone who's really inpatient) don't mind taking a hint, in these rough days. You should check what games you have, what books you can read, anything that makes time flow easier. Because if you stress on something, it feels like time is going slower :3

Personally i contribute a few posts here occasionally, reading psupedia, playing sims 3, reading cooking recepies :3 tending my garden, playing with my cats. ^^ Basically anything that's tracks my mind away :3

I hope it helps you too

I've updated the post about release date and progress with the latest announcement from Marmalade on the Clementine discord. We hope to release very soon and we're sorry for not being able to release in the time window we planned. Thank you for your patience.

Additionally, I'm having doubts about the Forum and the Discord. The forum is slow, costs a fortune, and doesn't serve much that Discord can't already do. For the most part, it would be large posts.

The Discord on the other hand is a mess, a big mess, and I really dislike the way things are still. I would like to work on and improve it soon, so don't be too shocked if you see things changing around.

@Jakoo56 Thanks to you i've found this edit, i only jumped to the end ^^ But can you tell me what dose this  part mean.... "the forum is slow and cost fortune" and the... "The discord on the other hand is a mess"

Would that mean the forum goes down or something? But in that case, how will we get the launcher?

The forum has bouts of slowness and just plain won't load any pages. This seems to be more of a problem with the newer version of Invision than anything else, so says the Invision community. I've even tried other (and much stronger) hosting, and the issue remains. While the forum looks nice, and it has nice features, it's bugging me that it becomes unresponsive like this. The main worry being that once we set sail then it will be more difficult for me to make a call on this, since people will be putting guides and the like here.

I don't think we will be without a forum. Discord isn't good enough for news posts and the sort, but the question is: do we want this one for the next however many years? especially if it doesn't respond half of the time. I suppose for news posting and guides, it does the job.

@Marmalade Since i have no clue how these things works, i have worry i will say something really stupid but...  Couldn't an older verison of this Invision thing cure the issues? Or prehaps they as well need to fix things, and once they do, things go better for them, lIke Clementine?
May as well once the wiki will be hosted, couldn't it have place for these guides? Such as Midori's spreadsheets?

We can either be positive and hopeful, or may be use a different thing, not that Invision. (not sure if it's even an option. because i literally had to google what is that, and still don't understand :*D)

Please tell me if i said something silly 😄

I figured this out recently, but if the forum is taking a long time to load the page, just click the link again, and there is a good chance it works quickly. Of course, that's still far from ideal, but at least we aren't stuck waiting minutes for the page to load anymore.

Oh yeah been doing that since the day I started using the Forum. XD
Usually it loads well but the off chances it doesn't just clicking the link again gets it done in a second or two every time so not having any issues with that.

Yeah, well Japan has always worked to kind of heavily favor focusing on domestic release and stuff so frankly I'm surprised we got Pso2 at all officially localized outside of Japan.

I have a suggestion, just to let it be known I'm a Admin over on the REmodding forums, not going to post a link but a simple google search of "Resident Evil Modding" will pop up. The modding site was originally on Invision back in 2007 and even though we tried updating and adjusting the best we could through the years we always had similar problems to your own in addition to spam attacks, finally in 2012 we moved to Proboards which is free and actually very user friendly. The updates and features its provides in comparison to Invision is so apparent and while its not perfect it is a lot better than what we had with invision,  I think that the fact  its still standing mostly problem free 8 years after the move from Invsion is a testament to Proboards reliability in my opinion.

Just a suggestion on my part from someone who was a part of a longstanding forum having to move due to issues, As a longtime fan of PSU and a huge supporter of the work you guys do to bring back a piece of my youth with this great game I felt compelled to throw out a suggestion even if you guys do not take it, good luck and here's hoping it all works out!😄

@RJSArtemis Okay so accroding to the pso fandom....

phantasy star online came out....

Japan flag December 21, 2000
Usa flag January 29, 2001
Europe flag February 23, 2001

On blue burst, it simply says 2003

I can't put this to anywhere. But prehaps they felt like they have had to push it out? Because around 2000 there were many good game made. But if is that so, why would they made them now for such a long time? Or why they didn't just keep pso2 for themselves? Andhonestly PSU could have had lasted for that time they working on it. Even if the japanese server were up. But prehaps that could cost more for them... I don't know, and really don't wish to over think things i have no idea of :*D

Like once it were mention... "Feel like that's a discussion for another thread though. " So i think i will leave it at be, at least here :3 if someone open a topic for it, we might talk about it ^^

Usually the tale goes that they finish the whole off release and the early stages and years of the game domestically, and if there is a large enough demand coming from the west they might make the decision to search for a company that would want to do the localization and marketing, if they find one that they can come to an agreement with it could see the light of day outside Japan, but in a lot of cases the process gets cut somewhere down that line if things don't work out and they might try again later or might not, either way it can lead to some games taking forever to come out outside Japan if at all, if it wasn't originally intended to be released outside Japan already as it was still in development.

It's also entirely possible that they caught wind on how many ppl were using VPN's and text patches to play the game outside Japan anyway and wanted to capitalize on that.

This is what I have been doing for about a year now. I just double click a topic and it loads.
