The best kind of meseta sinks for a game like this are things that an end-game player would be interested in. Someone at max level with max level PAs and near perfect gear is the main source of adding tons of meseta to the server, so if there is nothing outside of player shops they can use their meseta on to improve their character, it can quickly lead to meseta becoming worthless. Even if player shops have a small tax, they mostly just move meseta around, so we need a way to make it so all of the strongest/richest players are motivated to gather up as much meseta as they can and delete it from the server.

But how do you get players like this to delete massive amounts of meseta from the server? Let them pay an absurd amount of meseta or gold bars to an NPC for very minor upgrades such as adding a single element % to a weapon or armor, changing the element of an item or having a guaranteed weapon grind. You could also make some of the best/most useful items only obtainable by paying a ridiculous amount of money to an NPC.

Another idea is to let players level up past character level 200 and class level 20 but the only way to do it is to pay an NPC a stupid crazy amount of gold bars for a single level. With all of this stuff in place, instead of the strongest players being the leading cause of meseta inflation, they will be all about deleting as much meseta as they possibly can. Players likely wouldn't be both strong and rich with this system. In order to get strong, you would need to keep deleting meseta.

True, but I feel having interesting options for midgame characters would help keep a steady outflux of meseta throughout leveling, rather than having it all dumped toward endgame. As much as a hate to admit it, pso2's Capsule system would be a good basis for a meseta sink. Missions requiring the expensive caps, i feel, would need to border on ridiculous difficulty with rewards ranging from cosmetics to practical. Titles, exclusive outfits, name posted on an ingame leader board, perhaps accessible as a physical "board" in the guardians colony, assuming all of that is even possible.

Pets, are also an idea, depending on if you can get miniature enemies walking around and following a player in the lobby to work.

Ideas involving whats already possible in game might be to make casino coins purchasable with meseta, and marking up the coin cost of prizes to be items of either extreme luck in roulette, or extreme dedication to hoarding meseta. Another would be to make character stat swaps a thing. Want to look like a Cast but play masterforce? Just pay X amount of meseta to get the stats and stat growth of a female newman.

Most of the inflation problem was due to the low server population and poor drop rates. Obviously we can only fix one of those two.

Out of curiousity, does anyone know first hand what the economy was like on Xbox vs PS2/PC? The PC/PS2 economy got pretty messed up early on and I don't think it ever recovered, thanks to hackers. I recall only being around Lv60, when the whole Rappy decoration fiasco went down, and they were selling for 60 million meseta. It seemed as though everyone I knew afterwards had millions of meseta and never really seemed to run out because of it. I'm not sure if anything similar ever happened on xbox.

As things stand right now, I'm finding myself hard pressed to actually make meseta to buy the things I want, namely clothes and PAs. A good outfit is 40k, and I have yet to get nearly that much, especially when I put PAs first! We've had our experiences with meseta sinks on the old servers, but I am really curious to know how much of our experience was tainted by hacking. It's entirely possible that the current systems in place are going to be more than enough for meseta sinks, but we never experienced it as we should have.

What level are you? I'm sitting around level 40 and I can make 40k in a few runs. This is solo though. And melee. Range is a bit harder because they're more reliant on photon charges. Either way, just pick up everything you see.

Meseta is most certainly needed and worthful on the test server currently.
It eventually stacks itself when you are closer to cap (90) atm, but this can be solved when better weaps and grinding comes out. :)

It's very stable atm, so however it's going now, I think it's a positive direction.

28 Ranger right now. Right where the recharges really hurt! (Although they don't right now with free charges, which is nice!)

Of course, it's going to taper out as you level up, and you'll be able to get both PAs and outfits. Definitely very different than PC/PS2 was!

Indeed. I was on the Xbox servers, personally, but this is a lot different from them.

At least for me, I just pick everything up that I find and sell it. Since I solo a lot at this point, I get all the drops so I suppose it's a bit easier to make money that way. And this is doesn't have anything to do with this topic, but would you happen to have also gone by the same name on PSOw? I believe we might have actually talked a few times in the past.

I've been playing only co-op which means less money. Not sure how much less. That being said, if you're using sellables as a means to get money, how will that change things when boards are re-implemented? ... Or WILL they be?

And yes, that's me! I use this name everywhere I go. Yours definitely looks familiar, too!
